48 Hours After The Successful Separation of The Saudi Conjoined Twins Reem and Rana

48 hours after the successful separation of the  Saudi conjoined twins Reem and Rana performed on Thursday, 13 September 2012, at the King Abdulaziz Medical City, National Guard Health Affairs – Riyadh the Head of the Multidisciplinary and Surgical Team, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah stated that the twins are in a stable condition without any sign of complications and all vital organs are functioning normally.  The twins are currently on an artificial respirator and will be eased off gradually in due course.  The twins will continue to be intravenously fed for the next few days.

The twins are currently in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and are expected to remain there for the next two weeks, thereafter they will be transferred to Ward 7 to commence their rehabilitation and physiotherapy programme.

The parents of the twins are extremely appreciative and thankful to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for his fatherly gesture and generosity as well as to the Medical Team at King Abdulaziz Medical City (NGHA) for the successful outcome of the separation.
