Based on the directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the separation of the Jordanian Conjoined Twins Mohammad and Amjed will take place, today, 29 April 2010.
After in-depth discussions by the members of the team it was decided to perform the separation as stated on Thursday, 29 April 2010. The separation will take approximately 7 hours and will have six phases. Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Head of the Multidisciplinary Team met with the twins parents to explain the details of the separation to them. The twins are joined at the chest and abdomen and share a liver, diaphragm and possibly bowel. They each have their own upper and lower extremities.
Based on the directive of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the twins arrived in Riyadh from Jordan on Friday, 23 April 2010.
King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh has become internationally acclaimed for the separation of conjoined twins. Mohammad and Amjed will mark the 27th separation to take place.
