The twin Ahmed & Mohammed are doing extremely well. This morning at about 9:00 A.M, they were taken off the respirator and their airway tubes were successfully removed. They started to breath normally without any support. Their condition is very stable in all systems. They both talked to their parents and to each other and they even asked each other to come closer.

Successful separation of the Siamese conjoined twin Ahmed & Mohammad was performed at King Abdulaziz Medical City National Guard-Riyadh on 17 September 2002, in a 23½ hour operation.

What makes an operation like this possible?
h2gantry_m2It goes without saying that you need a highly qualified professional medical team to make this type of operation a success. But the team would not be able to obtain this goal without the very specialized and precise medical equipment they use.

Then, His Excellency Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, the Vice-Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Commander of the National Guard, Saudi Arabia, generously offered to adopt the twin's case and arrange to have them separated at no cost to the parents (Rosli Rahim and Aisah Kanda).

FOLLOW-UP REPORT – 30 January 2002
The twins Najlaa and Naseebah are 9 days after successful separation. On Friday, 25 January 2002, the twins were taken off the respirators and started to breathe normally without any difficulty. Their other organs are stable and functioning normally and the babies are starting to interact with their family and with the medical team.
