48 Hours After The Successful Separation of The Saudi Conjoined Twins Abdullah and Salman

48 hours after the successful separation of the Saudi Conjoined twins Abdullah and Salman performed on Friday, 21 December 2012, at the King Abdulaziz Medical City, National Guard Health AffairsRiyadh the Head of the Surgical Team and Multidisciplinary Team, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah stated that the twins are in a stable condition and are under sedation and analgesia.  There are no signs of any infection.  The twins underwent an operation to separate them from the chest that was performed over 8 phases and took 9 hours.

The twins are currently in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and are expected to remain there for the next few weeks, thereafter they will be transferred to Ward 7 to commence their rehabilitation and physiotherapy programme.

The parents of the twins are extremely appreciative and truly thankful for the fatherly gesture and generosity of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz as well as to the Medical Team for the successful outcome of the separation.

This is the 31st case that has been separated by the Saudi team.
