24 Hours after the Successful Separation of the Moroccan Conjoined Twins Alsafa & Almarwa
24 hours after the successful separation of the Moroccan conjoined twins Alsafa and Almarwa performed on 12 July 2008 at the King Abdulaziz Medical City, National Guard Health Affairs – Riyadh the condition of the twin Alsafa has stabilized and she has started to gradually recover from anesthesia. She has opened her eyes and there are no signs of any complications. In respect to the other twin Almarwa who is known to have a very complex congenital heart disease her condition remains very critical. She is being closely monitored by the Pediatric Intensive Care and Cardiology staff as stated by Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Head of the Multidisciplinary Team. Dr. Rabeeah emphasized that the twin Almarwa will require a few weeks in the Intensive Care Unit and is suffering from the complications of the heart disease which was expected prior to surgery.

The parents of the twins have visited them and have met with the medical team and were briefed on the condition of their babies.

We all pray and hope that they will recover and get well soon.
