His Excellency, The U.S Secretary of Health and Humanitarian Services, Mr. Tommy Thomson visited King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh yesterday. His Excellency was received by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, with a number of high- level National Guard Health Affairs officials, in his office. The two parties held a short meeting, discussed the cooperation aspects between the two countries. Subsequently, Dr. Rabeeah has taken his guest for a tour around the facilities of King Abdulaziz Medical City.
The tour was started with visiting Fahdah bint Alassy bin Shuraim Intensive Care Unit and burns Unit. In addition, His Excellency the U.S Secretary of Health and Humanitarian Services, listened to a thorough explanation about the ICU and BU; and the services provided in each facility for the patients. Then, His Excellency visited the Philippine conjoined twin, Princess Ann and Princess May, who underwent a successful separation surgery last month, in the PICU. The American Secretary has praised the available enormous capabilities and the qualified national medical professionals, who contributed in accomplishing such sophisticated surgery.
Dr. Al Rabeeah has presented a thorough explanation about the surgery and the current condition of the twin. The U.S Secretary concluded his visit to King Abdulaziz Medical City by taking a tour in the Cardiac Sciences and Liver Transplant Center, which is considered one of the most important (leading) specialist centers among its kind worldwide. His Excellency listened to a complete explanation about the services provided by the center i.e. the major surgeries held in the Center such as- C.A.B.G (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft) and Cardiac Transplant, in addition to Liver and Kidney Transplant.
The U.S Secretary praised the advanced specialist medical centers that he witnessed and seen, which have similar technology and qualified human resources.
